SCCR Inc is UTSC’s on-campus media and podcast station, supporting student creators, campus groups, and community partners through high-quality audio/video production. We’re looking for three energetic and creative UTSC students to join our team as Media & Podcast Associates.

This role is perfect for students who love storytelling, enjoy working in a media environment, and want hands-on experience in podcasting, digital content, and campus engagement.

Position Details

Must be a current UTSC student
Part-time: 6–12 hours per week
Flexible scheduling around classes
Training will be provided
Opportunity to build a portfolio in podcasting, production, and digital media

Key Responsibilities

Edit podcasts and video content using Adobe Audition, Adobe Premiere, DaVinci Resolve, or comparable tools
Supervise studio recordings and assist hosts/creators during sessions
Hold office hours to support students with media production questions and bookings
Table at campus events and help promote SCCR services
Speak briefly before lectures to promote SCCR programs, studios, and opportunities
Assist in planning and promoting SCCR events, workshops, and collaborations
Participate in social media outreach—including talking on camera, hosting short segments, and showcasing studio activities
Provide basic technical troubleshooting for microphones, interfaces, and studio equipment
Maintain studio organization, equipment cleanliness, and ensure a smooth experience for all users
Help develop new podcast or content ideas that highlight student voices and campus culture
Track usage of studio spaces and gather feedback to improve services

Preferred Qualities

Comfortable on camera and willing to engage on social platforms
Extraverted, positive, and confident speaking to large and small groups
Strong communication and people skills
Ability to work independently and take initiative
Creative mindset and interest in audio/video media
Reliable time management and ability to balance multiple tasks at once

Required Skills

Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud, DaVinci Resolve, or similar editing and design tools
Basic understanding of audio/video recording workflows
Comfortable interacting with students, staff, and visiting creators
Willingness to learn and adapt to new production methods
Familiarity with social media platforms (Instagram, TikTok, YouTube) and how to create engaging content

Compensation Details

Starting honorarium of $550/month
Additional optional paid opportunities available for added responsibilities
