Mother Tongues

Shoegaze, Alternative Rock, Psychedelic

Zachary Osborn, Music Associate, Radio FWD

After 5 years of playing shows all over Toronto and opening for artists across Canada and the U.S. and playing in multiple festivals, this year Mother Tongues finally released their debut EP, Everything You Wanted. The EP opens with Eternity, a 7:33 long epic filled with Kraut rock rhythms and hypnotic melodies that will captivate you throughout the entire track. The band then quickly changes pace with the psychedelic-pop song, Let You Down, which I recommend to check out if you like the earlier discography of Tame Impala. Mother Tongues manages to perfectly close out the EP with the titular song, Everything You Wanted, which ends the EP in a grand, dreamy opus of fuzzy guitar melodies, booming drums, and reverberative vocals. Members Lukas Cheung, Charise Aragoza, Konrad Karczewski, Nick Kervin, Hannah Bussiere Kim have been able to beautifully blend their musical talents and tastes to create one of the most unique and compelling sounds in the Toronto indie scene and personally I'm eagerly waiting to see which artistic direction they go next.
