Glutenhead

Indie Rock, Krautrock, Emo

Zachary Osborn, Music Associate, Radio FWD

Hailing from the West End of Toronto, Glutenhead’s sound is able to cleverly blend a wide variety of sounds in their latest self-titled EP. From folk to indie and kraut rock, to 80’s pop and 90’s emo, there is a little bit everything for everyone on this EP. In addition to creating catchy lyrics and jubilant melodies, they’ve also created one of the most visually stimulating music videos of the year with the video for Naked in Toronto. In all honesty, the video is all over the place and at times feels like a fever dream, but the cinematography and energy of the music video somehow perfectly encompasses the chaotic vibe of the song. The video ends with a look back at normal life before the pandemic with the band surrounded by close friends singing along to the song. And although the songs were written before the pandemic, the EP has been cathartic in helping us cope with the stresses and frustration of the isolation we’ve all felt this past year. It’s hard to recommend just one or two songs from the EP as all are worthy of your attention. Hopefully we can soon belt out the triumphant choruses with Glutenhead when live music returns to Toronto!
