Since beginning his musical career in 2013, Clairmont II Humphrey has been one of Toronto’s most underrated hip hop artists. Not only has he impressed listeners with his music, he has also directed and produced many of his own music videos, each one telling their own unique story. Clairmont the Second has released 8 projects over his young career with his 2016 album Quest For Milk and Honey ending up being a longlist nominee for the Polaris Music Prize, an award for the best Canadian album based on artistic merit alone. In addition, his 2017 album Lil Mont from the Ave received a Juno award nomination for Rap Recording of the Year. His most recent album It’s Not How It Sounds released in 2020, an album which Clairmont produced, mixed and played every instrument for. The album has creative way of blending various genres as you’ll able to hear influences of gospel, trap, and jazz. Clairmont has a way of quickly making a good impression and this could be seen in the RadioFWD x SCSU Black History Month Showcase. His performance stood out among viewers who weren’t familiar with his work, as they were amazed not only by his genius lyricism, but also by his cinematic visuals.
