Bad Waitress

Punk, Indie Rock, Garage Rock

Zachary Osborn, Music Associate, Radio FWD

Royal Mountain Records sure has a good eye for local punk rock talent, and in the case of Bad Waitress, they’ve struck gold again. Following in the footsteps of fellow Punk talents PUP, Pkew Pkew Pkew, and METZ, Bad Waitress is another Toronto-based punk band making waves for their fast-paced tracks and catchy lyrics that spare no details. The band consists of Kali-Ann Butala on vocals and guitar, Katelyn Molgard on guitar, Eva Moon on drums, and Nicole Cain on bass. The four-piece originally began under the moniker The Nude Dogs where they released their debut EP Doll Creatures of the Valley in 2017, but made the switch to Bad Waitress when they signed to Royal Mountain records and released their debut EP Party Bangers: Volume 1 in 2018. Since the signing the band has polished their sound and have incorporated even heavier guitar licks, bizarre song structures and have shown to be the queens of satire in their lyrics. This pattern evident in the 2020 single That Sedative, and 2021 singles Too Many Bad Habits and Pre Post-Period Blues, which gave fans a little tease of what was to come before they released their debut LP No Taste in 2021. The album hammers home on the band’s strengths and is highlighted by songs Strawberry Milkshake and Manners, both of which make me feel the urge to go crazy in a moshpit. If you’re ever in the need for some tracks to let out some rage, Bad Waitress have got the soundtrack to do so.
